Recipe and Art
Unfortunately, the past few days I have been swamped with work, which is part of the reason for this abbreviated post.  However, I still found some time for cooking, as well as time for date night, including a couples art class with my beloved hubby, best known for his GO RORO collage. It was really fun!

Keep reading after the jump for a link to the quesadilla recipe and a photo of our painting.

Guest Post: Stovetop Popcorn

Good morning Readers!!!  As I mentioned last week, I have recently been spending more time in the food blogosphere.   As a result, I have been "meeting" many wonderful food bloggers.  Among these is DB, the Foodie Stuntsman, whose blog, Crazy Foodie Stunts, is focused on challenging and unusual food preparation (including, among others, an amazing grilled flank steak with chimichurri sauce).  So when he agreed to guest post on my blog, I was super-curious to see what recipe he would be posting.  After all, I try to mostly post healthier recipes that are easier to prepare, my rationale is that if it's easy then you are more likely to eat healthy (but there are other treats in there too since after all, life and food require balance).

Fortunately, DB was up to the task.  He picked a recipe that is unusual in keeping with his blog's theme(making stovetop popcorn these days has become rare in light of the convenience of microwave popcorn).  However, this method is more natural and gives you so much more control over what is put in your popcorn.  Great job DB!

For more on this tasty recipe, keep reading after the jump.

Max Brenner Desserts in Review and More

Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Milk Shot
Greetings all!  So I recently went to Max Brenner for dinner...twice in the same month actually (previously I'd been for a chocolate and I'd also tried their hot chocolate but never ate there).  Both times I went recently I had a salad - first I had the chicken goat cheese waffle salad and the second time I had the Asian Soba Salad (I've heard the turkey club is good, if you take half of it home so you can eat the dessert).  I know the food is good but the dessert is the main attraction.  It's the same at the Cheesecake Factory.  If you go, be sure to save some room for dessert.

Oreo Truffles: Surprise Recipe Swap Reveal and Father's Day

Oreo Truffles
Bonjour Readers!  This post is my first recipe from Surprise Recipe Swap.   When I got my email notifying me of my blog, I went to  See Aimee Cook with a bit of anxious excitement.  Once I started reading I thought to myself, I really lucked out for my first post - the blog had tons of recipes to choose from.  At first, I was thinking of trying one of Aimee's savory recipes - I was deciding between a pasta and a dip.

But then Father's Day snuck up on me.  What do you give to a sweet dad who has everything he wants?   Sweets of course! (and Mets tickets).  I started thinking about what I could make.  I was about to call my friend M who made cookie dough truffles a couple of times that were a big hit.  But then I remembered...she had plans to hang out with her sister and I didn't want to bug her while she was busy...and then I thought I remembered something from the recipe index.  So I checked and found the (football) Oreo truffle recipe and the brownie truffle recipe.  I decided to go with the Oreo truffles because it had the least ingredients.  Also, I felt like once I baked the brownies I wouldn't want to make them into truffles.

Southwest BBQ Chicken Burger

Greetings my lovely readers!  I've been watching the NBA playoffs lately so I was inspired to make BBQ food.  For purposes of this post, I inquired of my husband as to whether San Antonio would be considered Southwest, so as to avoid a misnomer, such as the alleged mixed berry ice pop controversy.   He replied that I would have to check the location of San Antonio in a map of Texas.  I decided not to do it because no matter what San Antonio is far South and far West of where I am now. Southwest it is.

Now for announcements...

Guest Post: Zucchini Salad

Greetings readers!   This week I am away on vacation, celebrating my two-year wedding anniversary =)  So instead of posting myself, I have
a guest post for a healthy salad for you.   I am super-excited about this salad, which looks really light and fresh...perfect for summer!  Now for a bit about my guest post author...

Eleanor is a celebration cake decorator and a major foodie who currently works for a London-based restaurant review guide.  The author of the blog Cake Over the World, she loves baking and decorating cakes.   Her blog features some healthier baked goods, as well as sweet treats and beautiful photos of sugar flowers.  Per my request (it is swimsuit season after all), she created a blog post for a very healthy recipe, this zucchini salad, for my blog.  I hope all of you enjoy this salad and stop by Eleanor's blog to check out her photos and delicious dessert recipes.
