Restaurants and Stuff to do in Aruba: Our Anniversary Trip

Sunset view at Passions on the Beach
View from our table
As I mentioned in my intro to last week's post, recently, my husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary...in Aruba.  This was our second trip to Aruba together; we also went once when we were in engaged.  We had an amazing anniversary and an amazing time, so I wanted to share it with you, especially if you are considering vacationing in Aruba.
Be sure to look out for the iguanas!
Check out restaurant, activity, nightlife, and accommodation information after the jump.

Restaurant Recommendations (Upscale):

- Passions on the Beach (we went here for our anniversary; the food and atmosphere were amazing....it's right on the beach and there was live music)
- Madame Janette's (romantic and delicious French food with live music - we went here both times)
- Papiamento (very romantic location and the food was great too)
- Papillon (very convenient/nice location and the food was good, but full disclosure we skipped dessert and hit up Gelatissimo)
-Gianni's (very convenient/nice location really good Italian - we went here on both trips)
- Gasparito (good restaurant/local food - this restaurant is also an art gallery)

Restaurant Recommendations (More Casual)
- Smokey Joes (classic BBQ ribs, the pulled pork sandwich is also good)

- Salt & Pepper (a casual tapas place, open for breakfast lunch and dinner)
- Texas de Brazil (a classic churrascaria - so much food!)

Activities:
- Jeep Tour (this was pretty fun - we did the four hour tour, which included the natural bridge, the gold mill ruins, some offroading, a snorkeling/swimming in the natural pool, which is small)
- Sunset Sail (the ride was nice but unfortunately we booked in advance and it was a bit foggy...note steer very clear if the crew starts fishing)
- Submarine (I'd pass on it - it was nice to see some fish, but felt the windows were foggy and later felt nauseous from the pressure)

Nightlife:
- Sopranos Piano Bar (a pretty fun piano bar where they take requests - just note that this place also sells cigars which means people smoke at the bar).

- Senor Frog (what you'd expect Senor Frog)
- Confession Club (this place is a club club so if you like reggaeton, blacklights, etc. this is your place - just don't get there too early...it was pretty dead when we went at around 11).

Accommodations
We stayed at the Hyatt on both trips, which seemed to have the nicest beach set up.   The Westin also looked really nice and had a nice bar area in the lobby with good TVs, though it's slightly further from some of the restaurants.  Riu also looked pretty fun.
