Gnocchi with Balsamic Brown Butter
In February, I posted on a couple of boards that I was looking for new sauces for my heart-shaped ravioli for Valentine's Day. I received some responses and this sauce seemed particularly intriguing. However, I wound up using a red sauce since I thought it was more Valentine-y. Anyway, fast forward to now, when I decided I wanted to try something a little different with some gnocchi I had in my cabinet. I basically followed this recipe from Giada de Laurentis of the Food Network, with two notable exceptions.
First, I used gnocchi instead of ravioli which worked out well (especially since I always see gnocchi being cheaper than ravioli). However, I would use this sauce for ravioli too and think it'd be a nice alternative to my usual sauces ( butter-sage, vodka, or marinara sauces). Second, I did not use walnuts since I was trying to use up items in my cabinet rather than head to the store. I will most likely try it with walnuts next time.
What I like about this recipe is that the sauce features items that you would typically have in your cabinet or refrigerator (except for possibly the walnuts, it depends on how well-stocked your pantry is).
